Time to Find Out

by bagambrell
Aching thoughts that were supposed to stay buried bubble to the surface as a band of pain erupts through my belly. "Honey, these aren't Braxton hicks. It's time." "It's time?" Confusion, terror and unspeakable joy all cross Daniel's face as he scrambles through the house. His overwhelming response to this baby cuts deeper than the next contraction. He bobbles in every direction, missing the neatly made suitcase sitting next to the front door. I hiss, "By the door!" "Oh, right! I'm sorry, Helen." He cups my cheeks and gives me a deep kiss. When he pulls away, his eyes tear. "I just can't believe it. I'm going to be a father." A moan escapes my soul as the physical and emotional pain overwhelm me. What will I do if the baby isn't his?

A Close Shave

by Chess Lover
Our favorite squeakendary hero, the Rat of Justice, is finally caught by the Feline of Doom who swallows him whole. The Feline of Doom heads to the Villain's Choice Awards to give a speech about his victory. Meanwhile, the Rat of Justice finds himself swimming in a pool of stomach acid. He spots a sign nearby and swims over to it. It reads: "Input organically fed rodents only. Avoid strong colognes at all costs, especially 'Ode to Limburger.'" The Rat of Justice happens to have a bottle of this cologne and pours it out. "And in closing," says the Feline of Doom, "persistence is key because..." "Uggh! My stomach!" he shrieks in pain. He pukes up the Rat of Justice who promptly pulls out his sheep shears to give the fiend and the audience members a much unwanted cosmetological makeover, sending them running and meowing in dismay.
