In this Privacy Policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to BookPressed™. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the BookPressed™ platform, how we use it, and the choices you have. We may update this policy from time to time and will post any changes on this page.
To use the Service you create an account, which requires a display name, a username, an email address, and a password. Your display name and username are public; you may use a real name or a pseudonym. You may optionally add to your public profile:
We use this information to operate your account and provide the community features of the Service. Most activity on BookPressed is public — including your profile, your published chapters, your races and challenge entries, and who you follow. Please consider carefully what you choose to make public.
We use your email address to authenticate your account, keep it secure, help prevent fraud and abuse, and send you account and notification messages (such as password resets, login verification, and alerts about feedback, messages, or activity you’ve subscribed to). You can manage which notifications you receive in your account settings or unsubscribe from non-essential email. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to respond.
We store the Content you create on the Service — chapters, feedback, races, challenge entries, profile information, and direct or group messages. We share the content of your messages only with the people you send them to; we do not use your messages to serve advertising. Remember that recipients keep their own copy of messages you send, which may remain available to them even if you delete yours.
A cookie is a small piece of data stored on your device. We use a small number of cookies that are necessary to operate the Service:
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Some essential features may not work if you disable cookies.
To keep the Service secure we process limited technical information, such as your IP address, when you sign in or perform sensitive actions. This is used for security and abuse prevention only — for example, to detect suspicious logins. We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles from this data.
Information you make public — your profile and the content you publish — can be read, collected, and used by anyone who accesses the Service. Some public information may remain visible even after you close your account. To request removal of specific information, please contact us; in some cases we may be unable to remove it and will tell you why.
We share information with a small number of third parties only as needed to operate the Service, under instructions and safeguards designed to protect your data:
The Service may link to other websites whose privacy practices differ from ours. Any information you submit to those sites is governed by their policies, not this one. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
We may preserve, use, or disclose your information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with a law or legal process; to protect the safety of any person; to protect the integrity of our platform and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues; or to protect our rights or property. Nothing in this policy limits any legal defenses or objections you may have to such a request.
We may share or disclose aggregated, non-identifying information, such as overall community statistics or the number of views on a piece of content.
If you have an account, your account settings let you access, correct, and update much of your personal data. You may also:
We use reputable hosting providers and technical measures to protect your data, and passwords are stored only in hashed form. No system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that data is absolutely safe from intrusion during transmission or storage.
The Service is not directed to children, and you may not create your own account if you are under 18 (or the age of digital consent in your country). The Service offers optional child accounts that may be created and managed only by a consenting parent or guardian; these accounts are limited to the games area and are the responsibility of the managing adult.
This policy applies only to information collected through the Service and not to information collected offline.
By using the Service, you consent to this Privacy Policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will provide notice — by email and/or a prominent notice on the Service — before it takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page. Please review this page periodically.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us.
